Culture Shot is an evangelization arm of the RILH that expressly reaches those where they are. To be used on retreats or with kids/teens, Culture Shot takes a shot of culture (current events, world affairs, specific books, movies and songs) and offers studies that examine the cultural medium through the lens of Catholic theology. The principles of Catholic Theology are everywhere as even those that would deny God, still have the desire for union with Him in his or her heart. Thus, we can find hope even in the darker places of the human condition.
By examining and studying the secular world, participants can be healed of the self-righteousness found in the hearts of many of the faithful and ultimately find compassion to better serve. In addition, participants learn to evaluate difficult ethical situations by providing objective principles one can follow when his or her emotions are asking for ethical compromise.
